Try and try again, till you are snubbed...

... and then try some more.

Note to self: Give up before you get snubbed, again.

Dessert, and food and dessert

So the weekend went off like most others. A lot of eating out, some Indian Association work, and a movie that wasn't all that bad (but I personally found it hard to follow).

And no, Leonardo Di Caprio does not die at the end.
(haha, I've always wanted to do that)

It was around 9.30 on a Friday night that the weekend really started. Why? Because I had the best ice cream since I came to Seattle last year.

Now I've always been a fan of the Indian ice creams...Aavin, Amul, Vadilal, Corner House, Havmor, Nirula's... and even the MTR softy cones.

The American ice creams have some grainy texture to them. The flavours are great, almost unimaginable. But I do miss the chill of the smooth runny cream from a "Lolly" or "chocobar" or cone down the back of my hand, all the way to my elbow (and of course my tongue following the creamy line). The heat in India does that you say? Well, that, and the ice cream itself. But I don't think I'd ever do that with ice creams here, even in summer.

So what excited me on Friday night? This quaint little store in Wallingford. Molly Moon's ice creams were delightful. Imagine Balsamic strawberry, Cardamom, Salted Caramel, Honey Lavendar, Coffee (my favourite) and more. The texture was creamy to say the least. The flavours, a fine balance between delicate and over whelming-ly great. You'd just want to take in a spoonful, close your eyes and enjoy the tingles on your tongue. And if you make embarrassing noises, well, so is everyone else.

Saturday started off being forgettable. And then Taco Bell happened. Don't know why this cheap Mexican joint gives me the jollies. I had the same bean-rice-veggie-sour cream-guacamole filling in a Chalupa and 2 Burritos. Not to forget the Nacho potatoes. Yumm!

So one meal for two came under 10 bucks and for dinner we paid ten times more.

Dahlia's Lounge in Seattle is as of now my favourite place to eat. Of course, there were just 4 items on the menu that we could eat. 1 Veggie salad, 1 Cheese plate and 2 Entrees. Oh the bane that is vegetarianism.

The food was excellent. The salads so fresh and light, yet well dressed and seasoned. The cheddar was sharp and when tasted with the fried green tomato and beer braised onion, heaven was oh so close. The Eggplant Parmesan is nothing like you'd expect it to be. Totally deconstructed. Small rounds of crisp batter fried eggplant on a bed of creamy cauliflower risotto topped with tomato salsa. The ravioli was nice too, except that I didn't quite fancy the smoky onions.

For beverage, I had, what in my opinion now is the best drink ever... Dry Lemongrass Soda. These might probably be available in stores already, and if so, go grab a bottle.

Dessert was fulfilling. A beautiful chocolate pudding topped with vanilla cream and a popcorn brittle for a twist. Elegant, rich and yet not overwhelming. The perfect end to a wonderful meal.

Sunday was alright. Thai food, movie and Indian food. Not Great, but good enough.
