Role reversal

I would have been about 8 or 9 when I got my first snow globe. It was that of the Statue of Liberty. Some aunt/uncle had gifted it to us.

I used to get the greatest kicks to just wait till all the "snow" settled and then shake the globe vigorously. I would never get tired of it.

My 20th birthday or something a friend gave me one that technically wasn't a snow globe, but it was what life underwater would look like. It was actually a pen stand, but with fishes and dolphins swimming. If I remember right, there were a couple of sea horses as well. I used to try to get the fish stuck in the "reefs", but they'd always get away. Very cute.

Have you watched "While you were sleeping"? When Bill Pullman gifted Sandra Bullock the snow globe of Florence as her wedding gift, I thought it was the most romantic gift ever. I cried in the last scene when he does actually take her to Florence after their wedding. In fact, I still cry each time I watch that movie.

As I look out of my apartment window (every 30 seconds or so) to check if it's still snowing, and if so, then how much; to check for new footprints in the snow and how fast it gets covered, I feel like I'm in a snow globe myself. Like someone else's hands are shaking the globe and that's what makes me move from one room to another.

I made a tiny snowman from what I collected on my window sill. I'm making Christmas candies. I'm shopping for gifts online. I'm going to go play with one of my first gifts from boy. A snow globe of downtown Seattle.

From my window, that's what I'm in. :)

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

swami: My foot and a half!
(That's how much more snow we'll see over the next few days)

Puja: Are you crazy? The only comment you've ever written and this is what it is! Sidey female.
